The Confidence Trick (2003)
Synopsis
Walter is a shy architect so convinced of his own unattractiveness that he can barely look anyone in the eye...not even his colleague, Claudette, after whom he secretly lusts. To add insult to injury, he has to spend his days working alongside Etienne, a smarmy, ultra-confident Lothario. Riddled with jealousy, Walter determines to ruin Etienne’s charmed life in the most brutal way possible. But this act of vengeance unexpectedly brings Walter face to face with his wildest dream… the chance to see life through someone else’s eyes. Will getting what he’s always craved be the solution to his problems? A modern spin on the myth of Narcissus, updated to contemporary East London.

Production Information
Filmed in the summer of 2002, The Confidence Trick was Wild Honey's biggest project to date until the production of Toshi in 2008. Starring acclaimed actors Daniel Lapaine and Jeremy Sheffield (then fresh from Holby City) it was a smooth shoot that translated into a dark and intense film which ended up being shown at festivals worldwide. In 2004 it was selected for the International Competition at the Dresden Short Film Festival, where it was also screened as part of the British Council's short film programme.
